Criteria To Be Considered

Applicants must be a dependent of a full-time, permanent employee of J. Wray & Nephew Limited.

Academic Criteria

Secondary
  • Achieving 75% or higher on PEP examinations or 75% Grade Year Average
  • Write a 500-Word Essay Titled:
    "Describe a real moment when you felt pressured to make a choice that didn't align with who you want to be (at school, at home, online, or in your community). What was at stake? What did you choose? What did it cost you (or protect you from), and what did you learn about your character?"
Tertiary
  • Grades required - 75% or GPA 3.0 and higher
  • Participate in 72 volunteer hours per year once successful
  • Reference letter from MP, Justice of the Peace, Church Leader, Principal or Police Officer above the rank of officer
  • Recommendation Letter by Academic Advisor or Professor
  • Shortlisted Students will be contacted for a Panel Interview.
  • Write a 1000-word essay titled:
    "Write about a high-stakes decision you made during your academic journey (integrity, finances, family responsibilities, leadership, time management, wellbeing, etc.). Analyze the decision using: (1) your values, (2) your responsibilities, and (3) your long-term goals. What would you do the same, what would you do differently now, and why?"

  1. I understand and accept that the JWN Foundation will process (collect, use, store, or otherwise deal with) my personal data for the purposes of evaluating my scholarship application and, if successful, administering the scholarship. This includes sharing my personal information with third parties, including and not limited to the publishing of my name, image or likeness in photographs, and video recordings in press releases, publications, and on social media platforms, and facilitating the payment of any scholarship awards.
  2. I further understand and agree that my personal data contained in images and video content and any other media format, may be used by the JWN Foundation and/or its authorised agents, affiliates and service providers for the purpose for facilitating the JWN Scholarship programme.
  3. I acknowledge that the JWN Foundation may later anonymise my personal data for use in research, reporting, or other legitimate purposes.

If the applicant is a minor, that is, under 18 years old, the applicant’s parent or legal guardian must agree to these terms and submit this application on their behalf.
